Hey Man, great video, I'm an aficionado of BMW to and have a 540i E39. in Caracas Venezuela. Hopefully will get an M5 in the near future...Always watch your work on these cars. Thanks.

This is the best tutorial that I have found that talks about the chassis braces and the exhaust support. I have the same problem with the wrong length of the bolts that connect the exhaust support and chassis braces. Real OEM hasn't changed that m8x18 bolts. On the Real EOM e39 m5 Rear Axle Carrier page there is a torx bolt #19. That seems to be the proper bolt. Thoughts?

Thanks for sharing, I am just about to replace the support braces on my M5, may just replace the fuel straps seeing as they look so easy to replace whilst im at it.

Very good as usual.

One thing tho why didnt you prime and paint them? Extra protection from rust?

The stripped bolt hole has a helicoil thread insert. You can probably extract it and
install a new one, or better yet, install a timesert.

Have you or anyone else heard of a fuel leak coming from the top of the fuel tank? I my tank I can see slightly on the top of the tank gas and it runs down the brace. Passenger side?

Do you think those chassis braces will fit on a 540i??

Had no idea the straps were steel. Mine look like aluminum
