im calling it right now, this game is going to be the biggest bait of 2016. I dont care if you game has infinite planets, if there is nothing to do then there is no point. you could even have all the gameplay mechanics you want but if its not fun then whats the point. also that FOV is unacceptable, its like looking through a scope all the time.

I just don't see the lasting appeal, I don't think many people who've been gaming long enough do. Doesn't matter how good the algorithm is for generating good content, you can't just spend very long doing the same things when the meaning and rewards are shallow.

It seems that there is absolutelly no reason to play this game besides exploring boring generated planets.

This game is already more complete than Elite Dangerous, with planetary landings and ecosystems already included.

That said, whether or not it's worth $60 at release is yet to be determined. I will be getting it for PC, if anything, and my purchase will depend on whether or not it is optimized for PC hardware, or just another half-assed console port.

That, and if we see anything more than the same recycled video of the same planets we've seen so far, over and over again, as "new" footage.

I want to believe this will be amazing.

A little correction on the narrative side, procedurally generated is not same as random, but i guess he simply slipped unintentionaally. You wouldnt be able to go back to randomly generated locations, but you can re visit procedurally built ones

Developers, one thing that is missing: character landscape interaction audio. If you are walking through bushels of tall grass, you should at least be able to hear it.

The game has come along very nicely, but man, some of those scenes (especially the meadow towards the end) are just on a completely different level.

This game seems cool and all, love the idea of roaming around and exploring new planets, discovering new life and all that jazz, but what do you actually DO? All of the footage I have seen of this game is just the player roaming around randomly to different planets and scanning stuff. Is that all? What else is there to do? What's the story/is there a story? There are a lot of unanswered questions that are making me very hesitant to pick it up at all, much less preorder it.

They seriously need to make this the next Spore. There needs to be creature, building, and ship editors. And if they really want to make it a successful game, they need to create a mission editor like in Spore Galactic Adventures.
