Using Multiple Midi Controllers in Ableton Live

How to use all your midi controllers at once and prevent them from stepping on each other's toes in Ableton Live. This is essential to any given live setup as usually only one midi controller won't have access to all the parameters you'd like to control at once.

There needs to be more tutorials like this. A lot of people don't just have one single midi controller, such as Push 2. All the videos I've seen.... hardly anyone is covering this subject.

Great video! Better than reading the manual. I'm planning to add MIDI controlled sliders to my setup soon and wasn't sure how to patch it in with my keyboards and Push 2.

I use the M-Audio Keystation 61 and an Akai APC Key 25. The Akai, when octave shifted, covers the bass notes and has the triggers and the Keystation covers everything else. Kind of like having an 88 Key with triggers but a lot less expensive.

Nice and clear thank you! My main issue is now making the 4 sequencers of my keystep pro controlling each one an hardware synth one 4 different midi channels to work together with the Push 2 sequencer, which has no different midi channels so big conflicts ...
It's kinda tricky! I think I ll just have to work one either the Push or either the keystep pro. Two at once is over complicated

hey so im using a MOTU 828 MKII interface which has 1 midi I/O but now want connect more than one device to the midi out on the interface. Do I need another interface with lager midi routing options? or could i just get a splitter and run everything though the MOTU?

This is awesome! How do you set up those midi effects for the channels?

Thanks a lot for this tutorial. It's super helpful to see how to choose channels in Session View. Do you possibly have an explanation (or a helpful link) of the cables, the multiport USB thing, and how you route all of them through the interface? I'm trying to set up a situation just like this but haven't used multiple controllers before. Thanks so much -Matt
