Ohio’s Good Samaritan law, enacted exactly two years ago, is meant to protect people who break into a car to save a child or animal. But knowing the specifics could save you from getting in trouble when taking matters into your own hands.

I’m good. I am not helping anyone. It’s not worth it.

Always do what is right, sometimes what is right isn’t always legal. However my first statement still stands, DO WHAT IS RIGHT.

You can't force people to help others. That law is government overreach and people know it. People have free will.

And we wonder why people would rather lower their head and keep walking instead of helping? Stupid law.

So say u see a child unconscious, possible, suffocating, in a car on a 90+ F day. Windows shut. Doors locked. Who knows how long it has been. Do you call local authorities, then just sit there and wait for PMT or Cops?
Anyone who has called for local authorities before know that it very well takes up to at fastest 15m or at longest 2hrs to arrive to a scene. If u r lucky, there may be an office around the corner.

Note: after complete oxygen cutoff, the body has 8 minutes before you basically die.

Were the windows partially open? You should not leave animals, babies, anyone alone in a car without the windows partially open at least. And you should not leave babies alone in a car while you're shopping, period. Hells sake! Leave them at home, not in a car. This is so asylum...

My issue with this is he doesnt know how long the car sat there. The police have the law on their side because they are judged based off of their objective reasonableness at the time an incident happened. No Monday morning quarterbacking.

The police say he is charged because after reviewing the store footage(something the man couldn't have done) it was determined the car was there for only a few minutes. How could this man know how long the car sat? Is he wrong for breaking the window? I'm not a judge. He made a decision and now his life is in the hands of someone else.

My friend told us, "I can't do cpr because I might hurt the person". My other friend said, "Oh no. The good samaritan law protects you". My friend said, "Oh well. I just hope I don't have to do cpr".
