Lyrics:

Just like the white winged dove...
Sings a song...
Sounds like she's singing...
Whoo... whoo... whoo...
Just like the white winged dove...
Sings a song...
Sounds like she's singing...
Ooo baby... ooo... said ooo

And the days go by...
Like a strand in the wind...
In the web that is my own...
I begin again
Said to my friend, baby...
Nothin' else mattered

He was no more... than a baby then
Well he... seemed broken hearted...
Something within him
But the moment... that I first laid...
Eyes... on... him... all alone...
On the edge of... seventeen

Just like the white winged dove...
Sings a song...
Sounds like she's singing...
ooo baby... ooo... said ooo...
Just like the white winged dove...
Sings a song...
Sounds like she's singing...
Ooo baby... ooo... said ooo

I went today... maybe I will go again...
Tomorrow
And the music there it was hauntingly...
Familiar
And I see you doing...
What I try to do for me
With the words from a poet...
And the voice from a choir
And a melody... nothing else mattered

Just like the white winged dove...
Sings a song...
Sounds like she's singing...
ooo baby... ooo... said ooo
Just like the white winged dove...
Sings a song...
Sounds like she's singing...
Ooo baby... ooo... said ooo

The clouds... never expect it...
When it rains
But the sea changes colours...
But the sea...
Does not change
And so... with the slow... graceful flow...
Of age
I went forth... with an age old...
Desire... to please
On the edge of... seventeen

Just like the white winged dove...
Sings a song...
Sounds like she's singing...
Ooo baby... ooo... said ooo
Just like the white winged dove...
Sings a song...
Sounds like she's singing...
Ooo baby... ooo... said ooo

Well then suddenly...
There was no one... left standing
In the hall... yeah yeah...
In a flood of tears
That no one really ever heard fall at all
Oh I went searchin' for an answer...
Up the stairs... and down the hall
Not to find an answer...
Just to hear the call
Of a nightbird... singing...
Come away... come away...

Just like the white winged dove...
Sings a song
Sounds like she's singing...
Ooo... baby ooo... said ooo
Just like the white winged dove...
Sings a song...
Sounds like she's singing...
Ooo... baby ooo... said ooo

Well I hear you in the morning...
And I hear you...
At nightfall...
Sometime to be near you...
Is to be unable... to hear you...
My love...
I'm a few years older than you...

Just like the white winged dove...
Sings a song...
Sounds like she's singing...
Ooo baby... ooo... said ooo

Female vocalists will come and go but there will only ever be one Stevie Nicks.

What an icon. She's survived drug addictions and relationship breakdowns. And still performing at 70 years old and she doesn't look at a day over 30. Stevie Nicks can't be stopped

I was 17 in '81 when this song came out. It still sounds just as good as it did then to these old ears. Great music never gets old and can certainly never die. Hoo, hoo, hoooo...

It's amazing how your music tastes can change over time. When I was younger (90's) I associated Fleetwood Mac with doctor's offices, elevators, bars for older people...Stevie Nick's voice was the sound of "ordinary, boring adult music" that I had absolutely no appreciation for. Then I slowly got into oldies in my 20's and even a little braver with classic rock in my 30's. Somehow I eventually stumbled across Fleetwood Mac, which seemed half rock half folk and something else quite unexplainable thrown in...a sense of mournfulness and even mystery, perhaps? I am not sure what it was that drew me to them, but now this band seems like the finest wine available in the world of music and I'm so glad I found it.

I love Stevie Nicks, she has done more for Veterans charities than her contributions to Rock and Roll. God bless her and her angelic voice.

"he was no more, than a baby then"
That twist is just goosebumps; and always will be! :)
And I was born in '81 as well. ;)

Turning 18 tomorrow. I lost my mom, and I know if she was still here we would dance to this and dancing queen. What a year it had been.
