Robert Mann was a serious composer throughout his life. A student of Stefan Wolpe, he went on to compose over 100 works for such artists as Itzhak Perlman, the La Salle Quartet, and the NY Philharmonic (under the direction of Dimitri Mitropoulos). Many of his works were written for his wife Lucy Rowan (narrator). He based the music on children’s stories and fairytales.

How the Rhinoceros got his skin is the famous Just So Story by Rudyard Kipling. This performance is by the Lyric Trio which included Leonid Hambro at the piano.
