Rubio says Biden called Trump supporters 'garbage'

President Joe Biden on Tuesday night weighed in on the racist commentary against Puerto Rico as an “island of garbage” at Donald Trump’s weekend rally — but the remarks may have backfired as conservatives quickly circulated the muddled comments as incendiary against Trump supporters.

Shortly after Biden made the remarks, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) told Trump supporters at a rally in Allentown, Pennsylvania, that “Joe Biden stated that our supporters are garbage.”

“I hope their campaign is about to apologize for what Joe Biden just said,” Rubio said, addressing Trump.
