iPhone does it better. Android still feels very stiff and mechanical/robotic, iOS feels very flexible (in UI animations, not features) and fluid. You can also interact with animations more.

those app opening animations are scary similar 🤔🤔🤔

Nice comparisons. I feel both have their pros and cons. I thought I read somewhere that Android had the ability to change the gestures and what they do...so that would be a plus to Android... Unless you don't want to think about how to use your phone and just accept what's given to you.

Glad to see android improving, but for some reason iOS always is a more smooth experience. It always seems jerky and not as fluid on android. Why?

You're the first person I've seen mention WebOS (Palm Pre/Pixi) gestures and how they did it first. I loved my Palm Pre Plus and I'm happy both of these operating systems are integrating gestures into them!

The suggested apps (if you have Siri enabled) can be seen if you swipe down on the home screen to bring up the search.

I have Android P beta and the issue I have found is when you are scrolling up in a app it will go into recent apps and suggested apps page very easily if you get to close to the bottom of the page. It's definitely a glitch that needs to be fixed. It happens even if I'm only 3/4 of the way down the page.

The gesture to the left to go back is a *BRILLIANT* idea!

With the option to see recent apps in list view, why would anyone want to decrease the amount of viewable recent apps from 12 to 4?

Why use gestures when the button is still visible especially the back button 😕

The Google gesture to change to different recent apps is better than iPhone X. With your thumb held, you can slide between all of your recent apps with a single gesture, whereas on iPhone you have to bring up the card view and repeatedly swipe to find the recent app you're looking for. Just my thoughts on that.

I would also like a gesture to the left in the navigation bar to replace the back button.

I like card ui since 5+. You can see more then one app so you can tap to open instead in p, you have to slide to view 2nd app.

On User Experience in connection to your submission on drawing from the top I think Google does it better because, I can easily remember two swipes than a left to center or right swipe, also Google keeps certain features on android because of the large user base, Apple controls their market solely and decides independently what to outdoor.

It would be great if you could also compare with the new OnePlus gesture approach. I start using and it felt natural from the start. Very intuitive and fast to navigate. Also with fast shortcuts for notifications and locking the screen

I despise the Android P "gestures". They feel like such an after thought, I'm glad you can turn it off in the settings.

You are the first person I have seen who likes the swipe down from 2 corners for notifications and quick panel. Even my die hard apple fan friends dont like it.
My main issue with iOS and iPhone X at the moment is that doing daily tasks I have to reach both side (to go back) and bottom often. Its fine if I have phone in left hand, but becomes balancing act if phone is in right hand to reach that left edge to back swipe gesture. And I fear dropping the phone when i lift thumb from the regular grip to go at the bottom gesture bar.

Its OKish for now with the size of iPhone X being small right now. But with potentially larger iPhone coming this year, this is going to be nightmare. I hope they make their phone bottom heavy.

The recent app draw is very similar to what they had 5 years back lol prefer the vertical scroll and there's no 'close all apps' which i already hate on iOS..

i just like tapping an icon to go back, home and to recent apps. i tried the gestures and I turned them back off. Hopefully, Google allows that choice when Android P is officially released.
