You really nailed it. I have been a artist and craftsman for over 60 years, and how you expressed the heart of being a creative was lucid. My trades have included being a machinest, a welder, a wooden sailboat builder, a photographer, a cinematographer, a chef... I have been playing guitar (deep space jazz) for 56 years and when I retired five years ago I decided to build guitars I can not buy. I have many beautiful Martins and a stunning Heritage Johnny Smith for references and am completing my build of a 7 string baritone archtop now. I have been admiring your guitar in "Hand Made Hand Played" for many years and decided to have a go at building a version for myself. Searching your name today I found your channel, thank you for sharing.

Yep, that's why I think that custom build guitars is not work in the sense that I usually think "work" is. Make custom guitars, at least for me, involves a lot of creativity, ingenuity and a taste of refinement, that I have to accomodate in my building schedule. Very frequently that amount of extra time don't pay off financially, but I do it anyway because the end result makes me and the customer happy. That's what I aim, that's the reason I build guitars. I think you have to give wings for your imagination and look for anything but the best work you can do.

Hi Tom, can you tell me what is the name of tool for planing which you use in the beginning of this video? I can't find that tool in my country based on Serbian name for that tool. My father has one but it is too old.

Aha...I thought I was the only one struggling to defend myself from getting boxed in with demands from loved ones to get me distracted from achieving my goals....MY goals. Thanks for this.... I'm going to have to say NO ... more and more to these demands.
