I've been living in Almaty for 7 days, in December 2023, I had a flight from Seoul to Almaty. This city is amazing place if you wanna feel the "city spirit" of Kazakhstan and Kazakh people. Historical and modern streams, styles of live are connected here which is actually great, who wanna know the real Kazakstan is 100% right place! Thank you for visiting Almaty!

The houses similar in East Europe and some Scandinavian countries. But they look nice you should show us more the city itself, we more see these building then history and people. The country is underrated.

Позор какой со стороны владельцев отеля, что не чистят кондиционер, а сами гости почистили его🤦
Спасибо Josie & Michael за позитив, вы очень приятные люди. Желаю вам интересных событий 🎉❤

17:45he said he is Persian but he is probably Tajik. There are a lot of Tajik migrant workers here in Kazakhstan who chose Kazakhstan instead of Russia since the war began

In Almaty there is a ski resort Shymbulak. You cannot ski there now but you can take the cable car and see beautiful views. Also, visit the amusement park Kok tobe. There is an observation deck, cafes, etc.

That green little building across for the Univercity building you passed is one of the oldest buildings in the Almaty. Its over 200 years old and used to be the residence of some Russian merchant. Therere are only few buildings left from that period. The street where that Juming Goat cafe is located used t be the city limit street. Basically it was an outskirts of Almaty 100 years ago. The large water way is called Main Aryk. It was used to irrigate all those trees along the streets. The water would come from glaciers up in the mountains and distributed through the system of Aryks (waterways) to irrigatte the grass and trees throughout the city. The wate there used to be so clean back then that it could be used for drinking and cooking (but it was very long time ago).

Thanks for reminding to clean my AC. It's been hot in Almaty all summer. You just happen to be visiting during mild weather.

When I rented out places in Brisbane, Australia or Sydney, honestly, landlords didn't check if their aircons' filters were clean. So, it's just omnipresent when it comes to renting places.

Hi, I'm from Almaty and I'm really glad you guys liked it here. People here are friendly and honestly we pretty much got used to having tourists here. Like it's completely common when people ask for direction or just want to have a small talk with a complete stranger. I had an Uber the other day and my driver was from Dubai and he was so surprised to find out that I'm originally from here (like being local is such a rare thing lmao) and I think it says a lot about how many people come here from other places. A lot of people from neighbor countries come here, but unfortunately not that much of English native speakers. People across the country come to Almaty for work or education too. We have bunch of really nice places to go as well, it really sucks you're not (or I guess weren't?) staying here for long. I would recommend you to have a walk in the evening in Arbat Avenue (you were there during the day), it's really nice here and there's a lot of young people performing different kind of things, basically different kind of artists: musicians, dancers, singers and I bet you could find an artists who makes sketches or sells paintings. It's nice during the day but I personally think our city looks pretty in the evening and have a different vibe. I'd also recommend you to visit the First President's Park or Botanical Garden, those are great for walks. There's a lot of different malls here as well, so I can't really pick one. About mountains I recommend Kolsay Lake, it's gorgeous, you won't regret it. Might be hard to go up and then down but I guess you could rent horses, If you'd like to. We also have Medeu ice rink to skate in winter and just enjoy fresh air in summer (its one of my favorite places to go at winter) and Shymbulak where you can take cable car and see the view from the top. Kok-tobe is sort of amusement park and it's mostly for tourists (in my opinion) so you could go there as well. Welcome to Kazakhstan 🇰🇿

That’s great that they have lots of place for kids. These are cities but they are kids friendly like nowhere in the world. If you would have kids you would understand. In the US there is no places for kids in cafes, restaurants etc. and it’s really bad because I can’t go with kids anywhere
