I completely agree with you on the Crazy Rich Asians series. As time passes I find books about people living in extreme wealth don't hold that fun escapist value to it anymore. Plus Rich People Problems is the most poorly paced and frustratingly unfocused book in the series.

I loved The Secret of Platform 13 as a child and many of her other books too. I re-read it recently and it was just as good as I remembered.

7:50- I agree! I think that’s why I didn’t finish the first Kevin Kwan book, I just had a hard time relating to the characters. I loved the movie though, kept it light and fun, I thought.

Ooh a new Owen Jones book, I’ll need to give that a read.
Literally just finished Chavs and it was really eye opening, from experience even though I was lower class, I always looked down at Chavs and Neds until I got to uni, but the book helped me understand why I felt the way I did.

there's a YA fantasy//paranormal series that's a retelling of Medusa : it's the Gods & Monsters series by Kelly Keaton. It's nothing groundbreaking but very fast paced and you might like the twist on greek mythology !

I don't read a lot of romance, but Chalice by Robin McKinley and the Sharing Knife series by Lois McMaster Bujold came to mind right away under healthy relationships.

Listen... I kid you not... Just as you said "Childhood favorite" I looked at my french copy of The secret of platform 13 sitting right next to me and then you talked about it?! And I read it all the time from the library too?!! I only recently thought of it and decided to buy my own copy to reread it 😄
