Sony Announces New Aibo ERS-1000

Sony announced the new aibo ERS-1000 today! It is available for pre-order in Japan and will be released over there on January 11th 2018, along with the "My Aibo" app.
It will retail at approximately $1,700 with additional subscription fees for the app and the additional price of the Aibone should you choose to buy it.
It's super cute! It looks as though Sony has used its Aibo technology and polished it up for the new release. This is an exciting time for Aibo fans!

i once tried to compose a mix of aibo tunes on my sining monsters composer app, but since you can’t change tempo (speed of the song), time signature (how many beats are in a measure) and key signature (how many sharps and flats a song uses) in the middle of the song it is difficult and one of the songs was the aibo explorer boot song but since i can’t place a note so high it sounds like screaming i decided to instead put the highest note possible in a default key signature using reedling (i like using him in songs i compose)
EDIT: i thought for a moment after posting this comment and i didn’t think about using spunge instead of reedling whose whistles could work perfectly >_<

you can find quite a few channels that have videos about this aibo and the titles are typed in japanese but a few channels also type them in english such as aibo_zero

I'm still not sure what to think about this. :c
I mean the fact that Aibo it back is great. But that everything (the software, personallity just everything that makes Aibo Aibo) is running over a server you have to connect with and pay extra. So when they've problems or when they shut it down some day, then your Aibo is pretty much dead. :I Or at least that was one critique point many aibo fans (or at least the one in the german forums I'm on) complain about.
Another is the "cute" design. It's not everybodys taste. Not realy mine eather. It's a little too simple and too cute. And the eyes are kinda weird looking too. Or the whole face area. It's in this so called uncanny vally I guess. I've seen some people called the new Aibo creepy. It just looks to "perfect" and too much like a real dog. I can see that, but it dosn't bother me. But to me it's kinda boring looking.
But hopefully there will be other versions comming out too, with different colors and maybe markings on them to make it for others a bit more apealing.
Or maybe you can paint it by your own? xD I mean there would be sure enough space to paint on.

What I like though is the mouth area and the way it moves. And the design of the joins of the legs. Look pretty cool to me. Here it looks more like a robot then a real dog, which I like. The new Aibo generally looks very futuristic, almost like from a sci-fi movie or anime or something.
