I always feel bad for David Spade whenever Chris Farley is mentioned. it seems like a 1 in a billion friendship that was ended way too early.

I love how chill David Spade is. He's not forcing himself to be funny or impress anyone. It's just a casual hang out with Conan.

Every time I hear anything that mentions Chris Farley I can't help but tear up a little, the guy was so great, and I don't think anyone knew at the time just how special he was. One of my Dad's friends used to spend a lot of time in Hazelden treatment center as a kid, because his mom was the head psychiatrist there, and that was where Chris Farley would go to try to kick his drug addictions, something he tried a couple of times. He met Chris one time, in the center's church, and the only thing he could think of to say was a quick and awkward "Hey." He was still a teenager at the time and probably a little star struck, and I think Chris knew it, so Chris said "Hey" back with a big head nod like he was trying to play it cool, turned, and walked straight into a potted plant in the aisle, almost knocking it down but not quite, because he was able to just barely catch it in time. It was one of Chris Farley's classic, over the top ways to try to get a laugh out of someone, and even though he was going through a lot of things at the time, he still wanted to make the kid who wanted to say hi to him laugh, and I think that is one of the most beautiful gestures of kindness and goodwill that somebody can do for someone else.

20 years later and I still laugh everytime I hear, "Fat guy in a little coat." It was so stupid, but so funny. Damn, I miss Farley.

David Spade seems like a very nice person. Whenever he does an interview someone always asks about Chris Farley. And he always as a story to tell. I'm sure his people could say "Look, don't ask him about Farley.", but I guess David doesn't mind. I just think it's really nice.

David Spade is always one of the best and most entertaining late night guests. I seriously think he would do great hosting a late night show himself, he has a perfect personality for it and his storytelling is top notch

Pain like this never goes away. It simply changes, with little triggers of agony and joy/bittersweetness every day.

I don't understand all the hate towards David Spade, he seems like a very down to earth and friendly guy, he's a hell of a storyteller, and honestly, I truly think he's funny.

David and Chris Farley were so much closer than most people realized. It was so painful for David to attend the funeral. It broke his heart.

I remember Farley's last performance on SNL, about a month before his death. I remember cringing thinking he might die right on the stage. I guess it's like they say. The good always die young. That dude was the definition of funny.

I never bothered to look at the specific time Conan wrote for SNL before, but I am not at all surprised to find out he was there during my personal favorite period of SNL when it was not only funnier, but the cast was truly epic. Being the fan of Conan that I am, it all makes sense now!

Chris Farley, Phil Hartman, two comedic geniuses that left us too soon.
