If this was canon, maybe when Jasper says “fusion is just a cheap tactic to make weak gems stronger” it could actually be the two gems lacking a sense of self worth so they both believe they aren’t strong enough apart :(

Maybe both of the gems were off color and they bonded over that, so they fuse together and they looked like a perfect Jasper, so they just stayed that way.

Maybe there is an interesting scene where they were both simultaneously upset and they tried to dig themselves back into the wall of the kindergarten, then they ended up tunneling a hole together on accident and they started talking, and then after a while of being cute and stuff they fused and made the giant Jasper hole you see in the betta kindergarten.

They probably both have self-esteem issues so that's why Jasper hates other fusions, because she hates herself.

If Jasper was confirmed to be a fusion, it would make sense for her to first say "fusion is just a cheap trick for weak gems" because she is so strong and so perfect she wish she was a gem by herself and hates her "parents" gems for making her be a thing, bc she's afraid of splitting apart and never coming back if the ones who form her never come back together(which would also reflect on her "parent" gems being afraid of being caught or breaking up).
Btw, it would make more sense for her to have a hidden in the back of her neck (so we wouldn't see it when she's malachite)
