I keep forgetting that Josiah Trelawny just has a totally happy family and he only hangs out with the Gang like it's your standard 9 to 5 office job.

That miner's hat is super useful in train robberies. You grab a ticket to annesburg, stay on and don't get off (unless you forgot your weapon load out, then get them off your horse quick and jump back on) stay on board till you are out of town, climb up on first passenger train and jump the two front cars and wait on top just behind coal car till just before the long tunnel. Quickly jump to engine, through off engineer and ride into the middle of tunnel. With the miner hate, even though it's dark, you will have plenty of light to rob. I'll be posting videos soon of my train robberies.

4 years this masterpiece of a game came out and there there still secrets I did not know, like I didn’t know Trelawny had an actual family, this game continues to surprises me

He’s right about the cattle in the mountain. With the papers talking about the paper lost in the mountain, the reference to the Donner Party, and the nearby bodies, those are definitely the draft animals pulling the wagon train that froze to death. From there, the party went on foot to the cave where you find the remains

As far as secret #9 goes, there’s a random encounter where a man will invite you to chat by his campfire. He will talk about how he came west with his family but abandoned them right before they got caught in a storm in the mountains. This obviously references the Donner Party.

I found Trelawny's place by accident. I was doing some other mission and I passed his door hearing the dialogue.

For the cattle - you can find the owners not too far away and there is a camper somewhere who tells you that these guys are family/friends of him. They are inspired by the Donner Party.

I love the game credits music that’s playing during the first secret. I beat my third play through last week and sat for 45 minutes listening to the credits music and watching the little cutscenes roll by

Trail trees were used and modified by Native tribes to indicate rivers, as they always point to the nearest water.

The people in Beaver Hollow are being poisoned by the nearby mine. There is a stranger mission that gives more details and context, I think available in Chapter 5 or 6

Edit to say Butcher Creek instead of Beaver Hollow

Love your videos Fizhy. I’m sure someone has pointed this out but the frozen man is a reference to the character “Hatchet Jack” from the 1972 film Jeremiah Johnson starring Robert Redford. Early in the movie Jeremiah comes across a frozen man holding a gun just as depicted in the game. He finds a note on the man that says “Hatchet Jack, being of sound mind and broke legs, do leaveth my bear rifle to whatever finds it. Lord hope it be a white man. It is a good rifle, and kilt the bear that kilt me. Anyway, I am dead.” We don’t find a bear or bear remains near the site in the game, but neither does Jeremiah Johnson in the film. Jeremiah takes his gun which is a significant upgrade over the gun he brought with him into the mountains, and away he goes to hunt deer and embark on his adventures. I think Rockstar just added this in as a cool Easter egg and reference to one of the greatest films of all time about mountain men and adventures in the old west.

12:25 I’m pretty sure the cattle are frozen because wagons used to be drawn by Oxen

Pretty sure #10 is a reference to ‘Hatchet Jack’ from the old Robert Redford movie called Jeremiah Johnson. In the movie he finds a man frozen to a log and takes his rifle. Great movie.

If you take the carbine rifle the frozen dude will be attacked by the wild life. If he keeps it they leave him alone.
