Backbone can literally be played anywhere unlike the portal, can be used for mobile and other cloud gaming, the black version comes with gamepass ultimate. Has a better streaming(phone dependent) and can use Bluetooth. Backbone is better hands down. It might not be as comfortable but it more versatile

saying they are both remote players is inaccurate. The Backbone is a controller. The Portal is a remote player device.

You need a ps5 for both, you probably have a phone, just connect your controller to your phone and stream the games. It's the same experience.

The difference is that the backbone can be used on the go and play on ps4. They're is a second version of the backbone that allows you to use your phone case and they made it bigger

Me (and at least *ME*): A dedicated Next generation Ps vita with the PS5 graphics, an SSD, a Linux operating system, optional mobile connectivity, dualsense features, that gigantic 8'' screen, beefier hardware and at least Sony can do all of this and more I don't care about the price, because this is the priceless gem

Backbone is ass y’all. Portal provides the actual PlayStation experience. I just played spider man 2 on the bike at the gym this morning on public WiFi with virtually no lag the whole time. That’s insane.

PS Portal can’t be even used in a hotel / cafe that requires logging in via a browser. Huge problem

I played like 1 hour of Assassin’s Creed Mirage through remote playing through my phone but I had to unplug my HDMI cable & have no apps running in the background on the PS5 & the phone, so my connection wasn’t that bad

Unfortunately where I’m living now, backbone one is only 85 usd and portal is 320 usd.

Costco has the backbone for $30... you also get a $25 PlayStation gift card so for the price the backbone is better portable wise.

Got the backbone to play mainly diablo immortal (its the only game i am playing on mobile) as well as ps remote…it works like a charm and literally transforms the experience! Don’t know about portal but the backbone is flawless!

Failed to mention the backbone can be used with a bunch of mobile games, I can also remote play my Xbox, and I can plug it into my PC and play pc games. None of which the portal can do. Pls stop glazing Sony. The portal is a crap product and reviews like this are a disservice to the community who want to actually know what they should invest in.

I’m more concerned with that phone. Just because the BackBone setup played faster means little u less the WiFi card in Portal isn’t up to snuff
