"How Do I have Fun Without Drinking?"
It can be tough to have fun when you are learning how to not drink when everyone else is. People will peer pressure you incessantly, implying that you're no fun or a buzzkill. That's why it's good to come up with a plan for having fun despite not having anything to drink.

In scotland when you dont drink anymore, people act like youve just said "im not going to breathe air anymore"

The part about the dancing is so true. When I go partying with my friends and I decide not to drink, I just dance and after a short timeI feel like I'm drunk and confident even though I didn't drink anything. At first it might feel awkward dancing while sober but you just have to do it and be aware that no one gives a shit how you dance, they are concentraing on them selves and won't remember anyway.

you're in so much control when you're not drinking and at the end of the night (as next morning) you stand out of the crowd. Fun is not related to alcohol. Just don't be shy and be aware that you will die some day. No F... Given

Thanks for these mini-series on alcohol Charly. I got them late but better that never ;-)

I have not been drinking for 4 years now, and I can relate to everything you say.
I was before that very socially dependent on alcohol, and at first when i stopped, I didn't know what to do with myself. Gradually though, I started to get more loose, and in a surprisingly short amount of time, (few months) I was as confident sober as I was drunk, and now I'm way beyond that state.

Now I am so energized that people don't even ask me about why i don't drink, simply because they think I'm so wasted :-D; I'm having a ton of fun, everyone wants to talk to me, flirting is piece of cake.

Straight to the dance floor as soon as you walk through the door.

You're a legend man! I literally two or three days ago decided I would stop drinking and stumbled upon this video through your mcgregor video as I watch his interviews a lot. You really are providing a service worth while. Well done 😊👍

Kind of like dancing... I do jumping jacks. Sometimes before socializing or I go onto a bathroom and do them. It always works! One set of 50 😌

As a non-drinker I can say that all of this is 100% true

I totally agree! Whenever I go to a party with my friends I always and up acting and feeling a little drunk despite not having any alcohol. All I do is start singing and dancing like no one is watching and the silliness just come naturally

I liked your way of thinking. If the event sucks, just offer alternative activities or just do your own thing. That's brilliant, love your channel. Really opens the mind up

I remember a funny quote from Benny Lewis the polyglot who also chooses not to drink alcohol but simple orange juice instea. He would go at it, have fun, be crazy and go around telling people ''I must have had too much orange juice!''

How do I forget my crippling self-confidence issues without drinking? That's the real question.

I love Sobriety I have lots of fun sober, been doing this since 1990 yes I see my friends have to have a couple drinks before they can dance and its funny. Life sober is so much better than when I used to drink, how I did it was lots of AA meetings in the beginning. AA is free and in every city, a wonderful program that's designed perfectly to help you learn the whys and how to stay sober One Day at a Time and you will meet many others like yourself. God Bless to everyone doing this!!!💜

I can do the not drinking while out at an event, but I mostly get aggravated by people who are sloshed up because I feel like they are not genuine. Yes, they are uninhibited, but when they sober up they won't remember how meaningful the convos were. Sorry, this might not be coming out the right way. At any rate, I enjoyed your video and I intend on sharing it with the kids. Take care. xoxo

You helped me decide to stop drinking 6 months ago and I have been much happier ever since. I have taken your advice and recommendations and it's working.

Seriously thank you so much dude! I'm constantly surrounded by drunk people who can't do much without drinking and I used to hate myself for being the only one sober who wanted to have fun without drinking... Guess I should not feel alone for this!

You remind me of Flyn from Rapunzel. Your face and expressions are exactly the same :D

Drinking for me at a social event is a way to loosen me up a bit. I don't drink to get drunk anymore and rarely do i ever get to the point where i am even buzzing. For some reason just picking up even my first beer makes me feel more comfortable. For some reason I'm constantly rethinking what I say, over-analyzing what I've said or what im about to say to try to minimize the chance of saying something that will make me sound stupid or something. So having a beer in my hand I can almost blame it on the beer in my own mind if I say something i feel is stupid, which in most cases its just me overthinking stuff and thinking other people think it was stupid when it probably wasn't. Maybe I should carry a beer in my hand all day every day lol.

Great advice! I've always been the sober one at parties, and that's exactly the advice I'd give other people who want to drop the alcohol. Partying sober among the drunk is essentially like speaking with a fake accent: it's your language, you are just giving it an exotic flavor because it sounds funnier. The biggest breakthrough for me was dancing. Once you develop some skill moving with the music you don't even need to be good at starting conversations, because people already assume that you are cool.
