The story line of Tripper and Rudy is what gave this movie a heart. And don't forget the hauntingly beautiful "Good Friend" sung by Mary MacGregor.

I remember seeing "Meatballs" at the theater when I was 12. One of my all time favorites 👍🏼👍🏼

I was at a LaCrosse tournament in Ottawa that year.
The entire theatre was packed with teen players.
Never heard so much laughter in my life.
We came in 2nd... It just didn't matter.

I saw this at a drive-in theatre summer of 1980.

One of my all time favorite movies. I was 14 going on 15 when this came out so I could totally relate to the campers. I watch it now more for nostalgia to remember those more simple times.

Every time this movie comes on anywhere I just have to watch it all the way through. It's such a fantastic movie and is very relatable if you've ever been to or worked at a summer camp. This film is not only a testament to it's time, but a real treasured classic.

I was a camp counsellor in the early 80's. This movie was so relatable.

Still love watching Meatballs and every time I do it always makes me sad that I never got to go to summer camp.
If you want to see a grown up version of a summer camp movie check out Indian Summer, nothing like Meatballs but still a great movie. It also makes me wish I'd gone to summer camp.

It was a film for the ages, a time when everything was still kinda simple. Not perfect, but simple.

So much nostalgia. I was only 4 when this came out so I got to know it years later on HBO. I never did any summer long overnight camps but I always imagined it would be a lot like this movie. Meatballs ended up being mandatory end of school year viewing for me.

I loved Meatballs, Heavyweights, and the tv show “Salute Your Shorts”. Great summer camp genres. When we were 15 (in the late ‘90s), my twin brother and I went to a lakeside camp in Eastern Oregon, we took the train from Southern California and from the train station. Then we rode the buses that took us to the summer camp.

On parents’ day, our parents didn’t visit but did ask us if we wanted to come home, we said “Yes!”, so dad sent us train tickets and the counselors took those of us campers who were sent either train or plane fare back home and we left.

It's an extremely cute movie, and it's relatable even today since summer camp is still probably pretty much the same, especially if they take away the kids' cell phones for the duration the way they should.

Lorne Michaels wanted Bill Murray to star on SNL from the beginning, in 1975, but couldn't afford him. He wound up writing for SNL until 1977, when they could afford to pay him to star on the show. He was already a well-known writer, and wrote for the National Lampoon radio show, which is where a bunch of the original SNL cast came from.

In the movie "A Talking Cat?!" (2013), actress Kristine DeBell plays the mom, and I immediately recognized her pale blue eyes and told my wife, "That's the girl I had a crush on in Meatballs!" (She played "A.L.")
