We bought a 2022 Toyota GR86! After talking about the car since the press launch last year, we decided to buy one and live out our recommendation to buy new enthusiast cars so automakers make more! We ordered Neptune Blue, having never seen it, and arrived at the dealer to see the color for the first time. Join us as we meet the car, unwrap it, and assess it on our initial drive home as well as two weeks later. This car will be getting a lot coverage and comparisons!

It is great to see journalists actually buy the cars they critique. I can respect that. It sends a message to manufacturers and enthusiasts.

The #SaveTheManuals crowd should do the same.

Literally the best piece of machine ever created for a daily crusher. Definitely worth the price for a brand new. Always support the brand. Top notch.

You mad lads actually did it!! Fantastic!

As someone who has owned several of the 1st gen, and who discovered your channel for your coverage of the first generation, I'm really excited for your coverage with the 2nd gen!

Still blown away that this channel doesn’t have over a million followers. Definitely one of the best channels to watch for the scenery and commentary. Thanks guys

I love that you commented that enthusiasts need to go buy these cars, brand new. If you want small simple manual transmission equipped sports cars to survive, you HAVE to do it. There is no other choice. Anyone reading this who doesn't buy a new one and instead wants to wait for a used one to come on the market, you are a part of the reason the manual transmission and cars like this in general are going away. Stop talking and go do something! Buy!

Took delivery of a 2022 BRZ three weeks ago. Traded in my 2018 BRZ. Loved the old one, really love the new one. I find it far easier to drive in town; the extra power down low just makes life so much simpler. I love how you don't have to hammer it to get power and you really don't have to downshift to pass on the highway (although it's still more fun.) The engine noise through the speaker lasted a day and then I unplugged it. I was looking for a car like the ones I saw growing up: TR7s, MG Midgets, small agile cars that were fun but don't put you in prison. I drove the 1st Gen BRZ and fell in love; I was waiting on the 2nd Gen for a year and ended up ordering one. I will be interested to hear your thoughts on it over time.

Wow that color makes it look like a baby Porsche! Must look even better in person, great work boys.

I just had an opportunity to sit in one yesterday at Cleveland auto show. I must say it is pretty accommodating for a 6’ 185lbs personality. The space on offer is tremendous, and everything feels driver focused. Also the car is really good looking once you see it in person. Congratulations on the new acquisition, hope to see it included in more adventurous road trips on the channel. Cheers!

Congrats on the purchase. Turning off the engine noise is 3-4min and 1 plug.

The road noise is a bit excessive and exhaust note underwhelming so I upgraded to a Borla cat-back and it sounds like it should have from the factory. Highly recommended

Oh man I loved this video so much. You guys are my favorite reviewers and to see this as your car purchase says a lot.
To top it off getting to see you guys interacting in a different environment just being yourselves interacting as friends was a nice surprise. Looking forward to this journey!

I can't imagine how giddy you fellas must feel! We recently took in a 2020 Hakone 86 on trade a few months ago that I almost impulse bought. May this 86 bring you guys many years of fond memories and smiles!

This is a car that I've been looking into buying for awhile now. It will be the most I've ever spent on a car, and as someone who works from home, I could certainly justify purchasing less. The thorough explanation you give is fantastic. What's even more fantastic is the incredible amount of clearly genuine enthusiasm that you show throughout this entire video. Thank you for sharing this. Now to wait until a Premium model is available anywhere near me..

Holy crap, that color combination with the gold wheels is amazing. It's a very good looking car.

As an NDRF owner, This is SUCH an upgrade from the 1st gen. There's no way I wouldn't be trying to get one.

Well done, fellas! After months and months of salivating over this thing it’s awesome to see it as a full time stable-mate. Look forward to the content.

I recently realized that chasing power has been moving me away from what made me a car enthusiast in the first place. After buying a previous gen M240i and spending a few months in it, I realized I was having _less_ fun than I did in the 228i I traded, which was itself _less_ fun than a number of light weight and slower rwd cars I've had over the years - the '87 924S with unassisted steering, an NA Miata, a 986 Boxster S, and the MGB I used to "borrow" from my sister at 15. So today I test drove a '23 BRZ, was instantly smitten, and put my name on the list. Just waiting for the right color!

Congratulations gentleman! It's been a long road but you've just built a car show successful enough to buy a brand new car for the show. Well done.

Congratulations gentlemen! I was so excited when this video popped up, and that the two of you did something SOOO many car people say you should do, but is done by relatively few. Or others who say "I can't wait to pick up one of these for $x in x years." We need to buy these cars NEW! If we don't, they won't be produced anymore. And we've lost so many great sports cars as a result of that. I'm hoping to be able to order a BRZ in the next year or so. Very much looking forward to seeing how much fun you two have with the 86!
