The actual reason was that people were abusing the free trial not to spread misinformation but to generate more images. You had a limit of 25 images (I think) and once you wasted all of them, you would just make a new discord account so you can make more images. They need to make money somehow

The reason they took the free trial away is not because of the controversy, but because after a person ran out of their free images (25). They would just make a new Discord account and just get free images so they took away the ability to do it for free.

I think most professional printers implement encoded messages in prints to later on detect where they where made, something like this we should implement with ai generated imagery. We now can very easy check if something has been faked by ai.
