'Nanyat' was found by Bob Baltzer, who also introduced 'Alpenweiss'. Bob gave us cuttings of this tree so we could graft it and introduce it into the nursery trade. This tree has bright green bark in the winter and flat curling leaves like Shishigashira or Ojishi. The fall color for us has been a bright yellow. 'Nanyat' gets its name from Nancy, Bob's wife, and "yat" being short for the Japanese word "yatsubusa" which means dwarf. We expect 'Nanyat' to reach 6-8 ft in height and width in 15 years.
