Actually, brown mooshrooms can be fed flowers and then milked with a bowl to produce suspicious stew. The effect you get from said stew depends on the flower you fed the mooshroom beforehand.

Brown Mooshrooms can be fed flowers, each flower represents a specific potion effect, when "milking" them you'll get suspicious stew with the corresponding effect.

The difference they have is one fed a flower. It will give the same effect as making it into suspicious stew. Bring that if you have a brown mudroom, you no longer need to use mushrooms in order to actually make it. All you need is the flower and a bowl which is a lot more cheaper.
