Waipū, a Scottish settlement

Показать описание
Firebrand Scottish preacher Norman McLeod, with over 800 of his followers, founded the town of Waipū in 1854. The group had previously settled in Nova Scotia, but hardship led them to look further afield. Today the town still celebrates its Scottish heritage with Gaelic road signs, annual Highland Games and an impressive museum.
