I remember reading Damon Albarn's perspective of this team-up, and he mentioned that most of the song was improvised on the spot and named after what their producer said after getting them in the booth together for the Converse promotion.

He goes on to say that he felt his verse was lackluster because he wasn't used to doing things off the top of the dome, but that when it was 3000's turn, he killed it *IN ONE TAKE* and kept going til he exhausted himself out. Which explains why the 10 minute version of this track is such a journey.

Converse isn’t an album by Gorillaz. The shoe brand Converse used to have a singles program where they would get three artists to collab on one song, and this is one of those singles.

Did you know: the Im the shit section wasnt planned, andre just spent all his Rhyme Points on thos verse and was told to make another one, had a breakdown on the mic and so did the producer

Now do the "I'm the shit" part 😜 My favorite fragments of that include "You can't have a piece of my pie, I'm the shit, I'm that guy, I don't know why" and "I don't even have to sing in key, it's all about me, I'm the shit!". It's not high art, but it's such an indulgent, satisfying freak out he had there for like 5 minutes straight!

The amount of rhymes they missed is increible. happens every Andre verse I guess but literally third line has glove that rimes with gone lone on etc etc etc
