Ohio River History | Cinematic 4K Drone Footage

Learn a bit of Ohio River History as I fly my drone and capture Ohio River Cinematic 4K drone footage of the area. In the mornings, the Ohio River fog rolls down stream as the sunrise occurs. When the Ohio and Mississippi converge in Cairo, the Ohio is discharging about 50% more water than the Mississippi. Some would say the Mississippi is actually feeding into the Ohio, rather than the other way around.

I grew up on this river. Unfortunately the river was filthy in the 60's, 70's and even 80's before it started cleaning up. It's so much cleaner now. When I fished it a kid and young man not much could survive in it. Catfish and carp were about all you could catch. Now everything is in there and thriving and all the birds came back that rarely hung out on the river in the past. Eagles nests are every where. The empty mills and plating plants are either shut down or there are business in those buildings that are not dumping in the river. It sucks losing the work but the river is actually pretty decent these days. I still don't trust eating the fish from it though even though crappie, walleye and other very delicious fish are thriving in there. I guess I should try it sometime. the last time I cut a fish open that I caught in the river the cat wouldn't even eat it. to much oil in the water.
