My suspicion is these letters will actually work against Josh. Everyone keeps reminding the Judge that he has 7 children; very vulnerable and accessible children at home. The Judge will want to keep him away from them for as long as permissible under the law and/or the youngest turns 18, whichever is longer. There is no dialogue about accountability; it’s all about denial of reality. It’s not the Judge’s first rodeo, nor the first time the letters have recounted the opposite of the conviction. It is this exact enabling behaviour and verbiage that allows Josh’s actions to perpetuate. The Judge will see through this.

All that these 'character letters' have done, in my opinion, is paint a clearer picture of why it is a BAD idea to cut Josh slack...he is surrounded by a network of clueless people with their heads in the sand about what is and is not important in the real world. Not one person is addressing the magnitude of his actions and the effects of his actions. He will never be held accountable by his peers and community-he obviously needs to be held accountable to the letter of the LAW.

I think this is the part of the situation that bothers me most. Her own father is defending the man that cheated on and humiliated his daughter, and has been convicted of heinous, disgusting crimes that have destroyed her life and the lives of his grandchildren. This is such a disgrace.

I am glad I don't know all the details of what Josh was looking at. These children have a life sentence with what they are having to go through to heal from this. Anyone that would make a video of or watch a child be abused should be given life in prison

I want to ask all these family members and friends who are supporting Josh if they would support a stranger who abused their child or grandchild. As the mother of one victim said, this is NOT a victimless crime. They should remember that Jesus said that anyone who abused children would be better off with a millstone around their neck (I know, it’s paraphrased.) If Josh is so tender hearted, how the heck can he watch a child being victimized?!

Her father angered me so much on their wedding episode. When he said his authority passed from him to now to her husband, like she was some property. That makes me sick! I have never liked her father, he creeps me out!

You hit the nail on the head when you said that Michael Keller has never known Josh Duggar in the setting of regular life! A *former* long distance friend of mine was recently convicted of over a dozen felony counts of something similar to Josh and received over 50 years as a combined sentence. This was someone I knew for several years and talked to regularly but only visited with twice in person. When you don’t see them in regular everyday life, it’s much, MUCH easier for them to hide their bad behaviors. I thought a few things here and there didn’t make total sense at the time but I never thought the truth was as extreme and disgusting as it actually was! The former friend of mine also was hiding behind extreme religious piousness, family money, and right wing political connections… and to this day in prison maintains his innocence and that the underage victims were the ones at fault. I cut communication. The parallels with Josh, for me, are sickening.
