Schooner Fare Day Of The Clipper The Birchmere 2020

Alexandria Virginia January 4, 2020. Steve and Chuck Romanoff perform Day Of The Clipper that was the title of their first LP in 1978 done with the late Tom Rowe. The song also appeared on the live LP, Alive. The Clipper Ship is synonym for the merchant ship, a sailing ship that was very long, slim and fast. It held a lot of cargo. The first Clipper ships were Baltimore Clippers, that sailed out of the Chesapeake Bay. The ship had its heyday in the 1840s and 1850s, then the Panic of 1857, the steam merchant ship and the opening of the Suez Canal bought the Clipper ships to a slow end of use.

I saw Schooner Fare at the Wolf Trap in the early 90s and absolutely fell in love with their music. So good to see they're still out and about, and this is my favorite of their songs, thank you for posting!
