Good stuff :) Most of the time, when those Bosch sensors go bad, it is because someone let the gauge heat up the sensor before starting the engine. i.e. As soon as the gauge gets power, it starts "warming up" the sensor. I put "warming" in """s because it "warms" it up to over 1200 degrees F . The inside of the sensor is made of ceramic. And, when it is already THAT "warm" and, gets hit with initial start-up air, that is around one thousand degrees colder, it fractures. Like a hot windshield with water thrown on it. When it does, it acts exactly how you describes it. As the cracks start to grow: First, it just starts giving increasingly wrong readings, then, it intermittently starts showing full lean. Then, eventually, the cracks hit something vital. And, it just goes full-lean ( or full-rich ) all the time.

Getting the sensors from an auto parts store makes sense. BUT!!! Beware of sensors on eBay or Amazon. There are cheap Chinese knock-off sensors out there, that, usually, only work well enough to show 14.7 at idle. And, everything else is WAY off.

HEMIs FTW :)
