That was a pretty bold, last minute move, on their part.  Current owners should be much happier too.
Regardless of which manufacture it is, ,  Even if a product isn't perfect out of the box, , atleast being opensource will allow entrepreneurs to create replacement parts and upgrades at a cheaper price.

Ok Tom, why I can see the disclaimer, but when I click the link to the actual review it tells me the video is private?

Great work I believe in OS and that there is no place for proprietary, patented and closed inventions in the maker space and everywhere else where it just hinders a global movement towards a more sustainable and happier world. Great news on the move from BQ and hope that other companies do the same in the near future.

"... Ya know sometimes, all it takes is a kick in the nuts to get things going..." Thomas Sanladerer.Sage words Thomas, but better still are your actions. Keep kicking balls Thomas. You are gaining tons of pull in the '3D' community with every video you crank out and with that pull comes power. *Insert movie quote regarding power and responsibility here* Keep on Rockin' in the Free World, Mark

Due to the meanwhile available successor of the witbox there seem some main issues to be solved now. I can not estimate whether the implementation of the marlin software is sort of "free domain" or not now, but according to the hardware there are some important steps into the right direction. For me this is mainly the new extruder, the automatic leveling (beside: it´s good but not perfect) and above all - and - as can be heard in Your review:  obviously there has some serious work on the noise level taken place. I´d appreciate a review on the Witbox 2 some time...

You can get the student version of inventor for
Literally everybody I know with a computer capable of running it has it, even if it's just to screw around.

Hey Tom I'd like to get in touch with you about reviewing a 3D printer. I work for a company called RigidBot. We did a kickstarter and are finally having a chance to make a new machine and will need some people to review it. It would be a few months but I want to line some good people up for reviews.
