Modern Colonialism is so fundamentally different to the described Colonialism of the past.

Modern Colonialism implemented White Supremacy. Previous forms of Imperialism and Colonisation did not result in ethnic cleansing and genocide. Because conquered and rival political systems did not erase the people, but rather brought those people under the new political system.

Modern Colonialism didn't see the new people as new subjects, only as subhumans who must be made to serve the economic needs of the REAL humans who could only ever be white.
