I played both games, and In my humble opinion i prefer the "bad" ending... diying for my loved ones and glory... the end when the bomb explodes and your comrades salute you and she says "Dont be afraid! there's nothing to be afraid of anymore" really touching

For me Metro is just more than game. Act where you save Pavel from his death was the best ever scene i have seen in any movie or game.Such a scene creates deep impact in your mind . And those khan's last words in metro 2033 where he tells the entire theme of not only metro 2033 but about life. You reap what you sow, ” he tells you. “Force answers force, war breeds war, and death only brings death. To break this vicious cycle, one must do more than just act without any thought or doubt.”.I will keep those sentences in my heart forever.

Artyom is the most badass character not because of his combat prowess, but because of his compassion. Artyom (In the canon ending) Spared everybody he could, even if it meant he was in serious pain or risked his entire mission. he showed the compassion of A saint, only taking A life if completely necessary or if the person was so gone it did not matter. He understood the person showing hostility to him were just scared, hurt, and desperate individuals, trying to survive in a broken world. It is for this reason I believe he is not only the most badass character, but the most compassionate, Kind and morally just character out of any game. He even spared some wildlife that understood him.
