Just seen this as a 53rd birthday treat to myself. I laughed. I cried. I had a stupid big grin on my face from start to finish. It was magical.

I just went to this last night in London! It was awesome. I loved the stage design, live music and singer, and how the performance adapted the magical parts of the movie (like when the catbus runs through different scenes and when Totoro rides on a top). The puppeteering in this was incredible.

For those of you who stated they were bothered by an adult being a child, you’ll see why if you can see it on stage. To get a well-seasoned stage performer at a young age acting the way that the actress portrayed Mei would have been so difficult, and maybe unsafe in some scenes (like when she’s on top of Totoro). The performance was rather funny with an adult portraying a four year old. Mei got so many laughs and so did Kanta! I have to say the actress who played Satsuki definitely has some lungs! Great stage presence.

I’m glad I could hear and understand all the lines clearly in this play. I had some trouble when I watched Phantom of the Opera.

The seats at the Barbican Theatre were comfortable for the duration of the show. There’s a 20 minute intermission. You can buy official merchandise from their shop or get drinks and snacks during that time.

This was amazing! The theatre was completely full! I’d highly recommend going in person if you have the chance!

Had the enormous pleasure of witnessing this today. If you can go you must. It’s quite guite beautiful. It’s spectacular it will make you laugh and cry. With a live band and singers adding to the experience, I didn’t want the curtain to fall, but when it lifts to see the bowing and happy actors enjoying their craft, wow that also hits you too. Travelled from Sheffield to see it, would do so again and again. This is now more popular than it was when it was released 40 years ago. Feel privileged today

I just have to say, to anyone who didn’t get the chance to watch it the first time it released, watch it. It is by far the best piece of theatre I have seen. It was done so well!! The sets are astonishing! The music is beautiful! The puppets are breathtaking!!! Everything is done well here, and I can’t say there’s anything I could argue about that. As an obsessive Studio Ghibli fan, I can just say that the night I went there to the Barbican to watch it. It took me to another world

Managed to get a ticket to see it on my actual birthday in March! It's a while away but will be worth it, plus I'll be 3 rows from the stage. Best birthday gift to myself ever!

Is it a little weird having the girls being played by grown women? A bit, but you get over it.

Is this also one of the most incredible plays I have ever seen? Absolutely. One of the first plays I've seen that actually elicited gasps from me. Absolute kudos to the producers for keeping the Totoros themselves out of any promo material, it really does make the big reveal spectacular.

Beautiful! 100% worth it even if you have seen the movie already, perhaps it even helps.

It brought the characters to life and the actors were brilliant, I have never seen such great talent live.

Plus, children's reaction in the theatre are the cherry on top.

❤ Too beautiful

Back in December, I went to a relaxed performance. It was like being taken over the rainbow, even though this was nothing to do with The Wizard of Oz. I was cheering by the end of the first act. I would definitely see this again.
