Показать описание
A plate with width of 300 mm and thickness of 20 mm is to be connected to two plates of the same width with half the thickness by 25 mm diameter rivets as shown below. The rivet holes have a diameter 2 mm larger than the rivet diameter. The plate is A36 steel with yield strength, Fy=248 MPa. Allowable tensile stress on net area is 0.60Fy and allowable bearing stress is 1.35Fy. The allowable shear stress of the rivet is 130 MPa. Determine the maximum load that can be applied to the connection without exceeding the:
a.) allowable tensile stress in plates.
b.) allowable shear stress in the rivets.
c.) allowable bearing stress between plate & rivets.
