In this Magento Basics tutorial, you'll gonna learn how to disable Magento compare feature.

There's no module in Magento that you can't disable and there are always two ways in doing that, the nerdy way and easy which will gonna show on this video tutorial.

Go to your web browser and type "UnderstandingE.com/dcp", DCP stands for "Disable Compare Products".

When you follow that link you will be directed to Magento Connect - Disable Compare Products, this allows to disable compare products functionality in Magento store.

- Login to the site
- Tick the box which says "I Agree"
- Click on "Get Extension Key" and copy the key

So the first thing you need to do is to make sure that the compiler is disabled in your Magento system.

- Go back to your Magento dashboard
- System
- Tools
- Compilation
- Check "Compiler Status" make sure that it is "Disabled"

It is a mandatory procedure to disable compiler before adding and removing any extension in your Magento system.

A good practice before adding and removing or changing anything major in your Magento website is to go and make a backup of your Magento System.

After disabling the compiler, you need to go to:
- System
- Magento Connect
- Magento Connect Manager
- Login to Magento

If you happen to see any red warning message, copy that message search that on Google, we have tutorials on how to fix those issues.

In box no. 2 under "Install New Extensions", right click on the box and then paste the extension key and click install then click proceed.

It's really important not to leave this page until the message "Cache cleaned successfully" appears.

Go back to the top of the page and click on "Return to the Admin Menu".

The next steps we're going to show you are the standard practice when adding or removing any Magento Extension.

You need to clear your cache. To do this, go to:
- System
- Cache Management
- On the left side, click on select all
- And on the right-hand side press submit.
- Click on "Flush Magento Cache"
- Click on "Flush Cach Storage"
- Click on " Flush Javascript/CSS Cache"
- Log out from Magento and Log back in

See you there,

Matt & Dave
