Sound design in itself is not really hard. Everyone with a minimum knowledge can make a proper preset. What's really difficult is to sound design something that can fit the track properly, but at the same time, sounding different, so it's not just the same preset with a slightly different FX chain.

And that's what makes the sound design really hard. It requires to be a nearly full time job, a D&B / dubstep / neurofunk or any other bass music producer has to experiment EVERYDAY and make as much sounds as possible so they can already have a constantly evolving soundbank. It requires a lot of patience
