"you will need to provide14 gauge 3 conductor wire to power up the indoor unit" Then says .... "you will need 16-2 to run from the outdoor unit to the indoor unit" Isn't that saying the same thing? This needs to be V E R Y CLEAR. The unit will throw a code if you don't use 16 AWG as the communication piece. I have watched professionals use HOURS of time because of this silliness.

Last couple Samsung mini split installs I have experienced were absolutely retarded as far as the electrical goes. Each head unit needs 208-230v power sources separate from the outside unit. The outside unti does not power the head units like most mini splits. When looking at the wiring diagram in the manual it shows the feeds jumping from one head unit to the next. Problem is the head unit does not have traditional knockouts for electrical conduit or cable. Instead it has a small cable clamp for only 2 cables. One large clamp for line voltage feed and one small clamp for low voltage communication. In no way is there any provisions to run the feed in and out to the next head unit as shown in the installation manual. Not sure what these engineers are thinking but why not do it all with one cable and why not power the head unit from the outside unit. Why have an extra breaker for 3 small fans that draw less then .2 amps each. Makes no sense. Also no traditional knock outs and tiny junction boxes smaller than the width of my pinky finger makes me wonder how this is even allowed to be sold.
