How many of Liverpool's starters actually played at the WC lets analyse. Allison (QF) TAA (1 game) Gomez (Absent) Matip (Absent) Konate (Final) Robbo (Absent) Thiago (Absent) Fabinho (barely played) Elliot (Absent) Henderson (QF) Salah (Absent) Nunez (Groups) Gakpo (QF)

So outside of Konate and Allison who is a GK, Liverpool cant complain as most of their players barely played or only got to the QF with rotation added in as they didnt start all their games.

Know it'd be a lot of work but it'd be interesting to see a list of PL teams and how many minutes each team had players playing in the world cup. Would give a discussion like this a lot more substance.

So, in the end, their players were the only ones at the WC?

Liverpool had most of their players not even going to world cup. Salah, Bobby, Thiago, Harvey Elliot, Joe Gomez, Diogo Jota, Andy Robertson, TAA (barely featured). A lot of there players went home early like Darwin Nunez as well. Liverpool had PLENTY of rest. Man UTD starting eleven all went and went deep into the competition. With our CB pairing going to the final and the vast majority making it to the quarter finals. Why aren't United burnt out?

Liverpool are definitely victims. Always the victims, it's never their fault.

Brighton had more players at the World Cup than Liverpool…..

klopp and Pep, s job to sort that out, Pep will take arsenal all the way, if not win it, klopp is miles off so why keep comparing them.

World Cup is just a main problem for most bigger clubs.
Liverpool had suffered a major hit because most players were either absent or only played 1-3 games.
Bayern Munich had their goalkeeper being injured for a long time and he was even made a disrespectful statement to ruin the entire club.
Paris Saint Germain's fortune was overshadowed by Messi-Mbappe as a result of World Cup Final.

But Liverpool weren't playing well before the break for the World Cup. When the break for the World Cup came Liverpool were sixth, seven points off top four and fifteen off Arsenal on top. What was the issue then?

The WC was no doubt a disruption, but that was true for everyone. Blaming it on the WC is a sad excuse, especially for sides with such depth in their squads.

Ridiculous take. They were poor before the world cup... Writing was on the wall, especially for Liverpool

Didn’t City have the most players play the most minutes at the World Cup?

Yet Man Utd had the most players in the World Cup? This is silly.

Two words. Haaland and salah. Their best players didn't even go..

What a rubbish excuse. A lot of teams had players at Qatar, and no-one has had more injuries to key players than Chelsea.

Don’t know about Klopp & LFC, but if we look at the hard facts at City, a lot of what’s happening there falls on Pep and I think he’s out of form. Why? The teams performances were good in the beginning of the season with the exception of defense as Pep was chopping & changing nonstop with the backline (yes an injury here or there, but constant changing every game); since the WC, his nonstop chopping & changing of players & formation of backline has spread to rest of team (exception of Haaland, Rodri & Grealish). We’ve never seen such extensive changing of personnel, position & formations from Pep for such a sustained period since he started at City (maybe the 2016 season).

I think the perpetual changes reflect a manager who doesn’t know his best 11 or formation which is alarming considering where we are in the season. Furthermore, this has had a deleterious effect on the team as it’s nearly impossible for them to build partnerships & chemistry like we’ve seen in years past and even in other teams we play. Yes rotations happen and City have always rotated but they’ve never done so to the extent they’ve done this season. This could also be why there are alleged issues in dressing room too which lends itself to a negative feedback loop.

Liverpool issues aren't anything to do with wc, they haven't signed a midfielder in 4 years.ridiculous.

Alvarez 1 of city's best players atm went all the way to the final, martinez at united and varane. Crappy excuse its nowhere near the end of the season yet so they haven't played more games than they would of at this point
