What is healthcare sharing - Healthcare sharing is an alternative to traditional health insurance where a community of individuals share medical expenses. Members typically contribute a monthly amount to a shared pool or directly to other members with medical bills. These programs are often faith-based and operate on shared values, emphasizing mutual support and cost-sharing for medical needs. They are not insurance but can provide a more affordable way to manage healthcare costs for some people.

This is super intriguing to me. Health insurance is SO expensive and rarely used by us. This has me thinking this may be a better fit. Thank you for the resources!

I’ve had Samaritan for about 10 years . I opted for the 1500 deductible per person per year, that lowered my monthly payment a bit . In the last 3 yrs my monthly has steadily increased, so now I’m shopping around again . Also if I see a doctor I always tell them I’m a cash pay with no insurance and usually get a discount . About 5 years ago I had a procedure and the bill I submitted to Samaritan wasn’t detailed enough so I went back to the doc and asked for a more detailed bill, they questioned me and said I thought you didn’t have insurance . I felt put on the spot and said I do being to a share program so they promptly took away my 700 dollar cash discount

I'm so happy you shared this info. My daughter aged out of my insurance and I've been trying to find something to cover her and this sounds like the best solution!

We have CHM now, but it has gotten pretty expensive compared to what we paid when we began with them about 8 years ago. We pay $514 a month, every month and sharing begins after the first $1, 500. This is just for my husband and myself. We are on a budget and could really use something similar, but cheaper. I'm so nervous to switch but CHM is going up in price again in January!

When my husband retired at age 55 we were given the option to do a cobra plan and keep the amazing insurance he had while employed. However, that meant we paid $1400 a month plus our $2k per person per year out of pocket. Well, that was in 2021, and the rates just kept going up and up. So, we finally found insurance thru MNSure. It's cheaper than our cobra, but still not cheap and we are on a fixed income so it hurts. We have to pay almost $700 a month, plus the first $3k per person per year. So, ... OUCH! I did research crowd sharing insurances, but we are NOT religious and the ones I checked into were totally religious based and actually said if you were not religious you didn't qualify. Like, WTF!! So.. I'm glad I found this and am checking into your Crowd Health. Thanks :)

I wonder if there is a similar platform for seniors on Medicare. We need help in negotiating prices too as well as level if appropriate care. Thank you

I’ve had Samaritans Ministries for about two years now but I’m a very healthy person and haven’t needed to use it at all so I’ve never really learned how to submit needs and everything. My wife on the other hand who is on the same Samaritan ministry plan? She does have health bills and I feel overwhelmed. I don’t know where to start in the process of submitting things. What would you recommend?

When I had my twins - included monthly, biweekly and finally weekly ultrasounds, private room, full team for each of us during the delivery, I paid $0. When my mom had her triple bypass the most expensive charge was for parking.

Super intrigued. Confusion on the initial payment for a doctor appointment and then saying if you have cancer it’s covered. I’m confused on how that works

Thanks for this video!! So helpful. I’m having trouble understanding how Samaritan is better if you are planning to have kids. It seems like the total cost is the same - Crowd has a $3000 commitment before you can share maternity costs, and Samaritan doesn’t have a commitment, but Samaritan’s monthly fee runs about $3000 more than Crowd at the end of the year. So all in all they seem about the same. Overall, I like Crowd’s teledoc system, personal advocate and one yearly checkup, over what Samaritan offers. But Samaritan portrays itself to have better maternity care coverage…what do you think?

Hello do anyone have any options for MS patients? My wife has it so she doesn't qualify for medicaid and obama care is so exprensive and my job health insurance deductible is a joke. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I have also reached out to Crowdhealth and they dont cover MS patience.

Do they accept preexisting conditions? Also do you pay upfront then get reimbursed?
