You forgot that anyone using Step Functions will also need a fairly good understanding of Security Groups, IAMs, Lambda itself, and half a dozen other AWS core concepts like VPC and Elastic Network Interface. So, after reading and understanding a 1000+ pages of complicated documentation, you can start to configure your AWS environment correctly, and then you may be able to "quickly" and "easily" automate parts of your business. #dont_drink_the_coolaid
