HP 35s Scientific Calculator Review: Is It Worth The Money?

The HP-35s calculator is a 35th anniversary tribute to the original HP-35 calculator. The HP-35 was the first hand-held scientific calculator, and a revolutionary device in its time. The HP-35s is much more than a simple retro look back at the past triumphs of Hewlett-Packard.

It's a design for the working professional, a market that has been practically forgotten by calculator manufacturers in the face of the rise of the microcomputer and the growth of the educational market for high end calculators at ever lower grade levels.

Running voice to text through an echo filter only makes it sound worse.

I have had the 42S, 41CX, 97 and my current workhorse 48GX. I purchased a 35s new off eBay about a year ago, I use it when I need to do run of the mill calculations. It's a great calculator, well worth the purchase. However, I would like to see HP bring back the 42S that included the full I/O capability of the 41CX.

It is abundant still, can be bought for under $100, but for the money, I would pay a bit more and get a SwissMicros copy of the HP15 or HP42. There are very limited RPN options left, for those of us who grew up with HP.

I have 3 (2 new with batteries removed) I have trouble using a non RPN calculator and I prefer a physical calculator (I also use the phone app). Shame calculators are going the same way as dinosaurs.

...given its price??? it goes for over $200 new. It was discontinued about 2 years ago, so that price will only increase.

I have one. I never use it. I just don't like it. As I recall among other things, there are a of couple glitches in the RPN. Also, the battery dies quickly for an hp and is kind of expensive.

The perfect calculator for cheating on the exam without anyone finding out because it looks like a non-programmable calculator
