Výstava jedné z klíčových osobností porevoluční vlny českého současného umění, dnes již nežijícího Jána Mančušky (1972–2011), seznámí veřejnost mimo jiné s díly, která vytvořil a vystavil na mezinárodních výstavách i v evropských a amerických muzeích, z nichž řada bude v Čechách vystavena poprvé. V Mančuškově tvorbě se prolínají rozličné umělecké obory – literatura, film, konceptuální umění, divadlo, instalace, video a text. V instalacích často osamostatňuje text jako objekt, zkoumá různé možnosti nelineárního čtení a intenzivně se rovněž zabývá reflexí filmového a divadelního jazyka.

Oslovili jsme pár lidí – výtvarníků, performerů, choreografů, architektů, designerů, kunsthistoriků – kteří s Jánem Mančuškou spolupracovali, aby nám nahráli krátké video o svém profesním i osobním vztahu k Jánovi.

An exhibition of work by a key figure of contemporary Czech art of the period after the restoration of democracy in this country, the late Ján Mančuška (1972–2011). This retrospective will offer to the general public access to his output previously shown at international exhibitions and/or currently owned by various European and American museums, including many which will be on view for the first time in the Czech Republic. Mančuška’s work exemplifies an intersection of diverse art disciplines: literature, film, conceptual art, theatre, installation, video, and text. His installations often individualize the element of text, treating it as an object, examining alternative ways of non-linear reading, and engaging in thoroughgoing reflections on the languages of film and theatre.

We approached a couple of people - artists, performers, choreographers, architects, designers, historians, who collaborated with Jan Mančuška – to recorded a short video about their professional and personal relationship to Ján.
