The older games may have that story you're looking for, while yeah they may not have sharp graphics but they make up for the incredible stories, soundtracks and moments.

The older Ace Combat games, especially 5 and 0, WERE top tier games, with actually top tier stories, character development that made you cry (R.I.P.) made you rage at your enemy, made you thrilled and excited, made you nostalgic on your character's behalf, and everything in between.

Ace Combat 7, to my eternal despair, did none of that for me. Didnt even tug at a heartstring.

to be fair, to fully understand the ace combat 7 story, you also need to know mostly every detail of the stories of 4, 5, and 6 because 7 is really a branch off continuation, and it's story is harder to understand
