As a kid in S.W. Michigan the farmers field north of us was planted with Gladiolus. 50 acres of gladiolus all different colors. It was beautiful. Almose as beautiful as you I must say. After the second year the flower farmer harvested them. I'll never forget the sight of 50 acres of gladiolus.

Planting them 6-8" deep works well.

At this height, they are not too deep, but deep enough, so that they keel over less so.

It might be unorthodox but I plant gladiolus in my vegetable garden where the winter squash will ramble. They add beauty to the garden and the squash vines support the gladiolus stems
