After a year-and-a-half of the pandemic, Mississippi is facing another COVID surge, with hospitalizations there up more than 450% this month, and doctors and nurses are exhausted. Correspondent Omar Villafranca visited St. Dominic's Memorial Hospital in Jackson, where fatigue is just one of many concerns for current health workers still on the frontlines.

Each weekday morning, "CBS This Morning" co-hosts Gayle King, Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil deliver two hours of original reporting, breaking news and top-level newsmaker interviews in an engaging and informative format that challenges the norm in network morning news programs.

I am a housekeeper at Ocala Regional Medical Center. Not only are the nurses and doctors are feeling the burnout, we are also apart of patient care and housekeepers are dealing with
burnout as well and I am feeling the affects from being short staffed. I also witnessed a COVID patient die in our ICU as well and know the realities of this pandemic. May God bring ease and comfort during these times and give us the strength to power forward.

How about y’all pay your health care workers a good wage instead of giving these fast food places higher pay, it’s ridiculous. I worked as a cna and got paid 12$ and hour only and I find out Dunkin people get paid 17$ for making coffee? Absolutely not. I risked my health and my own life working frontline, and didn’t get accounted for it. Absolutely ridiculous.

I’m so glad I got out of the hospital system. I make six figures doing a very easy job now. Im a nurse and this pandemic showed me my hospital employer really doesn’t give af about patients or staff. So I told them to kick rocks!

I know doctors have an oath, but having to treat and be burned out physically and mentally by unvaccinated/stubborn people seems unfair.

The reason there arent enough healthcare workers because they take too long too graduate. The colleges make it so compettitive there are waiting lists for these programs. Make a lil more easier and more affordable for people to become nurses, doctors, and specialists.

Nobody had to die if they never poison the world 🌎

The medical workers will have more stress since they are already short-staffed and will lose valuable employees because of vaccine mandates.

Not, to mention madanting vaccinations for all like this will cause a split especially among hospital staff .

If they're like doctors and nurses in most hospitals then they aren't too overwhelmed to choreograph, rehearse and film a Tik-Tok video!

We’re tired, too, physically and mentally. We’ve been tired. We’re tired of hearing about this nonsense every day. You don’t know what tired is.
