Schopenhauer is so underrated, probably because he scares the shit out of people, wakes them from their materially-induced slumber. I dig his groove deeply. Definitely one of the dudes I'd be hanging out with if I had a time machine. 🍻

nietzsche - reaching goal is important than path you take.
Schopenhauer - path is more important than goal.

look at the conditions of the modern world today which is filled with despair and hopelessness Makes me understand why some people admire Schopenhauer and also why Nietzsche attack Schopenhauer as his last opponent.

Nietzsche doesn't mean to make us materialistic in modern ways, Nietzsche simply wants us to be more optimistic and face life at it's fullest to become more powerful by ourselves he teaches us to never give up...

In order to be great,
1 must be able to love his enemies
+hate his friends for a while
because life wants to build itself up into das height with pillars and steps
since all creators are hard--
hammer hardness.

Perfect comparison in gaming terms! It's further enforced by the fact that Nietzsche (and Schopenhauer's) idea of silencing the will had key similarities with the eastern notion of nirvana. Thus in Antichrist, Nietzsche identifies Buddhism as the "venerable nihilism at the end of civilization". I.e. the final enemy that has to be overcome (which, in it's western variant, equates to Schopenhauer).

this is like in Batman Begins where Ra's Alghoul the mentor Bruce wayne's turned out to be the major antagonist.

Wisdom comes from experiences in life and has to be lived. Nietzsche didn't live out (act out) his ideas. He spewed delusions, not wisdom.

Mean of two vices is where virtue is..virtue is never absolute for world it changes with time…Nietzche was giving us another vice as he termed all before him as vices…nothing can be read in its absolute we read with our perspective and travel to find a mean with philosophy..a phillopher’s virtue is just a vice for one who reads it …it can not be achieved neither it is to be achieved…it just asks to travel further from our own vices.

When reading Schopenhauer,
I feel as if there is an urgency to life, to feel now! to love now! and then to leave now..
Mr. Schopenhauer, he asks a lot from me..

Schopenhauer's pessimism towards the will was his fatal flaw. Nietzsche saw optimism towards the will; his great strength.

Nietzsche's flaw however was his arrogance and habit of being a contrarian.. that and a brain tumor. It's a gigantic loss for Nietzsche not to have seen old age and for his ideas to remain half developed.

Neitchz got a ride on his back before he attacked. Schoppy wrote that essay on the sound of a whip and it drove neitchz crazy

The last German (philosoph) to be reckoned with?
Johann Gottlieb Fichte.
Friedrich Wilhelm Schelling.
Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel.
Wilhelm von Humboldt.
Arthur Schopenhauer.
Søren Kierkegaard.
Friedrich Nietzsche.
Karl Jaspers
Martin Heidegger
Hans Georg Gadamer
And many more from the 19th and 20th century shouldn't be forgotten

Nietzsche is a great starting point for folks unfortunately many don't walk out their favorites quotes. He's like watching Bruce Lee flicks and assuming you're ready for UFC.

Schopenhauer take on woman and love is the best there is, only equaled by Patrice O'neal.

I liked everything until the end, which seemed a simple platitude. Then again, as John G Messerly wrote, it seems wrong to be a nihilist (paraphrasing). And I have to agree about that, too. One should not die before the time.

Frankly, life is only as enjoyable as you are. There is not a philosophy out there that will tell you to just work on yourself, because life is either amazing all the time, or miserable all the time. You know what to do to make it amazing all the time, and no philosophy is going to get you there.
Go to the gym, eat meat, meditate, get sun, and be somebody you like. That is what Nietzche and Schopenhauer missed.
