The atom I have is light on the detent. I was very disappointed. After a clean and relube it improved alot and was a lot better. It is very crisp. I prefer a strong over a weak detent anyday

With as slim as the knife is I would be VERY surprised if the knife runs on anything BUT a Bushing Pivot. I can't see anyway it has a bearing pivot, & throw in a weak/soft detent, yea the action is going to be poor. What would be a deal breaker for me is the lack of chamfering on the scales/liners, I would rather have a fat, heavy ERGONOMIC knife than a knife that bites back.

I would like to handle one before making a decision to drop the $175 to $180 on it, but the sharp scales would probably make it a hard pass for me. Chemo makes my hands hurt too much as a side effect to carry a knife that bites back, when I can get a knife in the same price range that is probably only 25% thicker but is more ergonomic.

nah people saying the action is good on theirs are exaggerating the detent is super light. I still love it as a slicer, some of the best blade geometry EVER but it is not a flick/fidget knife at all

My atom has a weaker detent, but it is not an open in the pocket type weak detent. Could be stronger though, I’m happy with it the way it is. Sending it back have you? That’s Yoda talk.

I dinged my atom, and had to remove a lot of material to get it out. How would you recommend thinning out the primary to restore the thickness behind the edge?

Really like what trm does. Great to have an American knife maker do good knives at a decent price. I wonder if the detent is just a flaw in this example. Great review 👍

I’ve got my eye on the Neutron 2. Hopefully, they will come back in stock again soon. I’d like to see the wood scales for sure.
