The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Review - The Final Verdict

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom's quibbles are bothersome, but they never feel disruptive, and they never detract from what the game is achieving elsewhere. While I would argue the combat’s weaknesses hold the game back from achieving the incredible highs that the last three titles have, everything else about the game is the series firing on all cylinders, taking a tried and tested, beloved format, and then tweaking it with a dash of new without getting rid of what it is players loved about the original formula to begin with.

Zelda fans old and new will find a lot to love with Echoes of Wisdom, which launched under a lot of scrutiny and expectations, but manages to live up to almost all of them. The future is bright for 2D Zelda - hopefully, though, the next one won’t take over a decade to come.

What classifies as a 2D game now? Because this is an openish world to move around in with 3D models so it’s 3D I think.

The UI is bad, no getting around that, and I for one have experienced FPS lag on my monitor, especially in more open areas like the world map. That being said, I use a 2k 165mhz monitor, so the switch doesn't really upscale all tha well into it. While annoying, it's not impactful enough to draw my attention away from the greatness and crreative freedom this game offers.

I feel it's a mixture of the old and the new of Zelda tropes. Some nostalgia factor with graphical layout and art style, a return to form reintroducing dungeons, while utilizing the almost unparalleled creativity of ToTK. You can get as creative and weird in this game as your imagination can go. From drowing enemies in a little cube of water, hitching a ride on a flying baddie, to making a Moblin lunch for a Deku Baba. We're given a basic explanation on the core mechanics, and then, the sky's the limit. I feel there are improvements to be made, but this entry definitely had me cackling from the get-go.

I pre-ordered this from GameStop and got my copy in the mail yesterday. I'm glad to see and hear all of the positive reviews and it sounds like the pros definitely outweigh the cons, as is with pretty much any Zelda title. Right now, I'm finishing up Astro Bot, so I can't wait to sit down and play this one for sure. 😎✌🏾💯

Honestly, I was never happier while playing a Zelda game outside Breath of the Wild. Tears of the Kingdom was not fresh, I have already played that with Breath of te Wild. I needed something fresh again. And here it is. A sequel to this might not hit the same, however. For me, this is a one time fun experience, same as Breath of the Wild was.

Game is awesome. I like copying objects around the world and using them to get past obstacles. Also copying enemies and summoning them as friends is dope. Music is breathtaking especially the intro mission in the game. It give

Its not horrible but its definitely a bottom half zelda game.
Good but not great plagued by tons of cutscenes and dialog
Also while the dungeons are better than totk and botw they are almost all literal straight lines and only 2 dungeons require you to backtrack more than 1 room
