An old friend of my family growing up wrote this #1 hit for John Anderson. He was also a great fiddle player in his own right. His name was Kenny McDuffie. Kenny wrote three #1 hits, one each for John Anderson, Mel Tillis as well as Conway Twitty. He made $75 K for each hit that made it to # 1. That was pretty big money back then, RIP Kenny !!!

My dad used to sing this song when I was a little kid and Southern Indiana and a little town called Jeffersonville I was about 7 or 8 then I'm now 38 and I have fond and vivid memories of my father playing this
