I spent the entirety of my teenage years with Pontac and Graff’s writing of Sonic. I started by buying Colors, Black Knight, and Unleashed together and beat them about the same time. The second two in my self-assembled Sonic starter pack probably softened the blow, but I didn’t even know they were written by different people because I was young and easily influenced. Fast forward the better part of a decade, it was about the point where the credits roll in Forces where I realized “I can’t believe this kind of writing was what younger me came to enjoy Sonic through, I possibly won’t buy any more Sonic games.” But then Frontiers came along, broke down my door, stuck a pair of soap shoes on, and yelled “let me show you just what I’m made of”. After Giganto, I was just like “thank.”
