About the Work
This arrangement was commissioned by the Romantic Revival Orchestra, and was premiered on 01/February/2024, at CBSO Centre (Birmingham), conducted by Leo Jaffrey.
Wieniawski’s Romance sans Paroles exemplifies an exquisite interplay between piano and violin, emphasizing the virtuosic capabilities of the violin throughout the original work. This orchestration preserves that soloistic nature, however, it does not use strings at its foundation, subverting traditional string-centric norms. Soloists from the Woodwinds and Brass families play a crucial role in executing the expressive nature of most melodic material.
